My prayers for the last 3-4 months have been “Please slow me down, help me smile more, I feel happy, but don’t look it”…When I’m home I just can’t seem to sit down…I see ads that need to be looked at so I can buy the best food at its cheapest, organize meals, get clothes ready for 3/4 members of the house for the week so our mornings aren’t dreaded, go through my training program and see what I need to do because I decided now or never to do my first half-marathon, housework, meal planning, oh-and spend time with my best friend-Mr Gray, and play whatever the girls want to play, not what I direct them to do…I finally felt it..a nudge on my shoulder “PSST, if you want to slow down, you have to make the effort…don’t go shopping after Sunday School like YOU want to, go home and just BE with your family..don’t do anything else…nothing, absolutely NOTHING…” and I did, for 5.25 hours I did whatever my family wanted to do…and it was wonderful. My kids lavished me in hugs and kisses, kind words were spoken, not yelled at each other, we laughed, we snuggled, we dressed up, we baked…it was a great afternoon…my prayers are answered in their own time, like anything else, I got to put in the effort. Its a hard concept, you have to make an effort to do nothing, but you can’t beat it….
